A sunny cold day that saw further progress with the new Class 119 engine which was successfully run up. Further activity with the steam cleaner removed many years of grime from the seats in E51505, the north end car of the 2 Car Met-Cam unit.
The IMT set of for Duffield this morning with L J Breeze and the Sturgeon after an air brake test that enabled the vehicle to be propelled and left on the new loop line ready for unloading tomorrow. LJB then returned undertaking a track inspection of the Duffield to Postern Lodge section and fitting of gauge tie bars in the area of milepost 134 1/4. We need to keep a close eye on the unresleepered section between Postern Lodge and Duffield and make emergency repairs from time to time until we can give it the full treatment.
The day concluded with the marshalling of tomorrow's works train ready for a prompt start in the morning ahead of a test customer.
