Thursday 8th November 2007

Dear all

The morning was spent on further work at Gorsey Bank to remedy the geophysical effects on the length of the crossing gates. They have now been cryogenically shrunk to the right size. Our new arrival "Claire" had a two man clean up and M51188 (part of the two car Met-Cam dmu) had its west side windows scraped and cleaned.

The seventh anniversary of first day of work on site at Wirksworth, 8th November 2000, was celebrated by over 50 working members by a mystery excursion followed by lunch. The train was the two car Met-Cam set following a creatively planned route and lunch on board the Gatwick Express was a splendid affair. It's not often we pause to relax but all concerned enjoyed themselves. Great thanks are due to Dorothy who masterminded and prepared the magnificent buffet and all who helped cater to the masses. It was also a delight to welcome Lorna Bentley and I hope she will join us more frequently in the future.

Kind regards

Martin
