Sunday 11th November 2007

As to be expected with the time of year, the short days give a sense of urgency to all our outdoor activities. The site was alive with activity particularly in the loco department where work was being done on the Class 31, while over the pit our newly arrived hire loco underwent routine maintenance , oil change and brake block change - before being released for driver training next week. Additional painting to 03084 was carried out between the spells of overcast weather. The newly re-metalled side rods are now back on site and are scheduled for re-fitting in the coming week. The Cadet team gave Claire a wipe down with an oily rag which transformed her appearance no end. The Passenger Dept plodded up and down the incline and entertained several visitors who were plied with tea and coffee and then sold toys and sleepers and tickets for the Santa specials.Last but not least, the Sunday P-Way team took advantage of a brief possession to do some final adjustments to the newly erected Gorsey Bank crossing gates.
