Tues 23rd Oct

Evenin' all,

A lovely sunny autuminal day, with two main areas of activity. At
Wirksworth the Passenger services were kept fairly busy with Half Term
passengers, the Buffet Car was also open and once again proved to be
popular. Around the Maintenance area, Roy and Les continued work on the
Pit drainage system, whilst Dave Mee applied more green paint to the
Incline coach. The logging dept were also in full swing. Mick has now
completed the assembly of the Idridgehay level crossing gate posts.

The other main area of activity was at Idridgehay, Many tons of
material were shipped elsewhere to reinforce embankments. The area
opposite the platform has now been levelled off and is nearly ready for
the Gardening dept to move in. The VCT were working with Per way and
much brash was disposed of, the hedge line was also tidied up. Some
granite ballast was relocated and either side of the level crossing
area had a dressing. A start was made on levelling the spoil heaps.

Tomorrow sees a mini digger being transported to a site to start ditch
digging, and most manpower will be at Idridgehay, digging the holes for
the gate posts (travel by car please). Also some more testing work.
Passenger trains will also be in operation.
